I know this doesn’t really have anything to do with children’s books, or reading, but while I was doing my uni reading (on strategic concepts… nothing very interesting), I stumbled upon this, which I thought just sounded so delicious and warming and made me think that even if the world is a jumbled up place, it is nice like that.
‘ [The world is] messy. Idealists will slip back to assuming ideal-forms and feel the mess can and should be tidied up, paradoxes resolved and disputes settled. Dialectic sees the mess as realistic, rich, wonderful, educational, creative, and that encouraging it provides a means of encouraging diversity.’ (Michael Metcalfe)
I think it sounds like much more fun to be a dialectic person, don’t you think?
Yes indeed!
